History
The Akwa Ibom Diaspora Health Professionals (ADHP) is a global network of Akwa Ibom healthcare professionals established in 2024 in collaboration with the Office of the Sr. Special Assistant to the Governor on Diaspora Matters. Its mission is to mobilize diaspora health professionals, organizations, and businesses to voluntarily support the development of primary and emergency healthcare in Akwa Ibom State.
With the official approval of HE Pastor Dr. Umo Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, ADHP engaged in extensive stakeholder consultations, leading to the first Diaspora-Government Health Dialogue in November 2024. This event, attended by high-ranking state officials and diaspora professionals, emphasized the need for a structured framework, clearly defined roles and responsibilities, an action plan for a Diaspora-Government Partnership, and considerations for funding and budgeting.
The Inaugural Diaspora Health Dialogue took place on November 3, 2024, under the auspices of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Diaspora Matters and the State Ministry of Health in partnership with Akwa Ibom Diaspora health professionals. It focused on strengthening emergency medical services, with speakers like Prof. Augustine Umoh and Dr. Nsikak Akpakpan.
